PROJECTS FORUM STUDIO HONORED WITH TWO ASLA CENTRAL STATES AWARDS OF MERIT
Forum Studio is honored to have been the recipient of two Awards of Merit at the 2015 ASLA Central States Conference for Gary/Chicago International Airport and The Pearl of Istanbul.
Both of the winning projects complement the firm’s design approach in creating connectivity between people, place and nature.
Gary/Chicago International Airport embarked on an effort to reevaluate its existing framework and define guidelines for future development. This project has been the focus of recent efforts to stimulate revitalization and economic activity in Northwest Indiana. The plan and the open collaborative public process that helped guide it demonstrates the power of private business and municipalities working in partnership to leverage local, regional, and state resources to make the biggest impact for economic growth.
The Pearl of Istanbul represents an incredible opportunity to enhance Istanbul’s growth and transformation as a world-class destination. With its engaging mix of activity from retail to restaurants and general pedestrian enjoyment, the site provides a compelling public space complement to the marina and nearby city center. The plan achieved its goal with an innovative design that reflects a holistic and cutting-edge commitment to sustainable initiatives while establishing an inviting urban oasis in the heart of Istanbul.
